Ready Strip biodegradable paint remover
is a one of a kind, environmentally friendly varnish and paint remover capable
of removing up to seven layers in one use. The revolutionary Color Change
product feature signals the time for paint removal. The remover is applied
to the surface and turns off-white or a pale green when the paint or varnish
is ready to be removed. Ready Strip biodegradable paint remover is non-flammable,
non-combustible, nearly odorless and can be cleaned up with water. It contains
no methylene chloride, caustic, harsh chemicals or harmful vapors like many
conventional paint removers. Ready Strip biodegradable paint remover avoids
the uncertainty associated with other paint removers that are ineffective
if removed too soon, or dry out and fail to work if left on too long. Ready
Strip biodegradable paint remover not only cuts the guesswork and is safer
to use, but will strip two to three times more paint than conventional liquid
paint removers. Unlike other paint removers, Ready Strip biodegradable paint
remover is a semi-paste which truly clings to vertical surfaces.

Unless
you are a seasoned pro at stripping paint consider buying the sample size
if you have never used Ready Strip before. This gives you the opportunity
to try-out and work with the product. You can also work out proper dwell
time and view results on the actual substrate. Since we cannot accept returns
of opened product containers for any reason; this is always the best course
of action for those unfamiliar with the product!

Ready Strip Plus -
test evaluation data
|
|

Our test
boards had 15 painted layers.
|
What's on the
boards?
2 layers latex primer (white)
2 layers oil base Rust Oleum (pink)
2 layers latex (blue)
2 layers latex (yellow)
1 layer latex Krylon (purple)
2 layers oil base Rust Oleum (pink)
2 layers latex (dark blue)
2 layers latex (white)
Observations
during use:
We applied Ready Strip Plus to our test board in a temperature controlled
environment. The product had a spreadable consistency with little to no
odor. After 24 hours we did not see any noticeable signs of color change
or lifting. We waited an extra 24 hours before significant color change
occurred. Our sample board was sprayed with Ready Strip Wash paint remover
cleanup about one hour ahead of paint removal to reactivate the product.
Recommendations for Ready Strip Plus:
After lifting with the ProGrip2 putty knife we had to use the ProPrep scraper
on the gummy layers underneath. This removed the top 5 layers. Ready Strip
Plus is best used in tasks involving only a few painted layers. Its
firm consistency should allow it to easily cling to vertical surfaces.

General Application
and Removal Instructions
|
|
Apply Ready Strip biodegradable paint
remover liberally to the surface with a brush,
medium sized nap paint roller, or putty knife so that the paint remover
completely masks or covers the color of the surface to be stripped.
Do not try to brush out too thin
like a coat of paint. It covers roughly 50 sq.
ft. per gallon. Apply at temperatures between 60° F and 80° F. When the
paint remover turns off-white or a pale green, it may form an eggshell like
skin to lock in the paint stripping action. Misting the area to be removed
with Ready Strip Wash paint remover clean-up before actual removal will
soften the skin and make lifting of the paint or varnish easier. After the
paint remover has turned off white or a pale green, use a stiff putty knife
to lift paint from flat surfaces or a stiff bristle brush for detailed areas.
After initial lifting, use a nylon bristle brush or stripping pad to scrub
surface. The time the paint remover takes to turn off-white or pale green
may vary depending on the type and amount of paint, the surface and temperature.
Typical product color change usually occurs within 4 to 24 hours. Paint
stripping or varnish removal may take place before the product Color Change,
although the product Color Change will show the end of the stripping action.
Apply Ready Strip Wash paint remover clean-up for final clean up of residue.
Make certain surface is completely dry before repainting. No need to neutralize
or acid wash the surface. Clean tools promptly after use with soap and water.
|
|
| On interior surfaces, the softened
paint and/or varnish may remain moist under the eggshell skin for several
days for easy removal. On exterior surfaces, due to the potential for higher
temperatures and direct sunlight, the product Color Change may be greatly
sped up, 1 - 8 hours. The paint should be removed shortly after product
Color Change to prevent the paint remover from drying out. Not advisable
for outdoor decks. |
|
|
| Due to the sensitive nature
of certain person's skin, rubber gloves and safety glasses are recommended.
Avoid eye contact. If eye contact occurs immediately flush with plenty of
water for 15 minutes. Avoid prolonged and repeated contact with skin. If
skin contact occurs, wash with soap and water. Maintain adequate ventilation
especially in confined areas. If spraying is expected use NIOSH approved
chemical cartridge (organic vapor) respirators. If swallowed do not induce
vomiting. Give 1 or 2 glasses of water and call a physician immediately. |

paint remover is applied too thinly, left on too long, or due to
excessive heat conditions, the applied area is difficult to scrape,
